Getting here
The Santa Lucia Preserve’s Gatehouse is three miles from Carmel-by-the-Sea, seven miles from Pebble Beach and just over 9 miles from the Monterey Peninsula Airport (MRY). Big Sur is just to the south and the San Francisco Bay Area just two hours to the north.
If you are navigating yourself to The Preserve using a GPS, please use the address 1 Rancho San Carlos Road, Carmel, CA 93923 or you may be sent on a more scenic route than desired. This address will lead you to our Gatehouse, where all guests are required to check in. You will be greeted by a host and provided with further directions to your destination within The Preserve along with required guest pass credentials to enter our private community.
From California’s Coastal Highway 1 in Carmel
Travel east on Carmel Valley Road for 2.2 miles to Rancho San Carlos Road. Follow Rancho San Carlos Road for about a mile until you reach The Preserve’s Gatehouse.
Travel east on Carmel Valley Road for 2.2 miles to Rancho San Carlos Road. Follow Rancho San Carlos Road for about a mile until you reach The Preserve’s Gatehouse. The Hacienda and Ranch Club facilities are 8 miles further south along Rancho San Carlos Road.
From San Jose and San Francisco
The Preserve is 79 miles south of the San Jose Airport (SJC) and 103 miles south of San Francisco’s Airport (SFO) via US Highway 101, State Route 156 West and California Highway 1. The approximate travel time from the San Jose Airport is 1 to 1.5 hours and a 2 to 2.5 hour drive south from San Francisco’s Airport. If you opt to take the scenic route from San Francisco, heading south on the Pacific Coast Highway, additional time is advised.
From Los Angeles
The Preserve is a 325-mile car ride north from Los Angeles. Via Interstate 5, State Route 46, US 101 and State Route 68, the journey takes approximately 5 to 6 hours. Highway One’s famed scenic coastal route from Los Angeles to Carmel requires about 10 hours of driving time.
