Welcome to the Santa Lucia Preserve, a private community nestled in the Santa Lucia Mountains, minutes from California's fabled Highway 1 and popular tourist destinations Carmel-by-the-Sea, Monterey and Big Sur.

Considered by Travel & Leisure to be one of the nation’s most treasured communities, the Santa Lucia Preserve and its ridge tops, creeks, redwood and pine forests, oak woodlands and rolling grasslands encompass the last of central California’s great Mexican land grants. The Preserve’s 20,000 acres are home to a lively community of 300 families. We relish living, learning, playing and sharing with family and friends in our own private "national park". We are sheltered from the ocean fog by the surrounding mountains; the pleasant year-round climate allows us to enjoy a rich diversity of outdoor recreation, entertainment, cultural events

and quiet relaxation. We are a closely-knit community who share stewardship of our land and its traditions. Through a unique collaboration with the Santa Lucia Conservancy, we have protected The Preserve’s landscape, as well as our privacy and security, by placing permanent conservation deeds on 90 percent of our land. While the development of The Preserve has been completed and nearly all of the homesites have been sold, there are still opportunities to join our community by purchasing completed homes or estate parcels. We extend invitations to join our private Preserve Golf Club and The Ranch Club to families who buy real estate. We also offer a limited number of applications for membership in our private Clubs to qualified families without the purchase of real estate. Please contact The Preserve for additional information.
