The
equestrian heritage of the Preserve dates back to 1770 and the
vaqueros of Spanish explorer Gaspar de Portola, continues through
the 1880s with the Sargent brother's cattle ranching empire
and on through the 1920's when the Gatsbyesque George Gordon
Moore hosted numerous polo competitions. For a time Moore's
Rancho San Carlos was reportedly the official home of the U.S.
Polo Team. Today the Equestrian Center provides a variety of
opportunities for families and friends to enjoy their equine
companions. |
